Viewing comp rounds
To access the compensation round page, navigate to Planner > Compensation and choose the comp round you wish to review. Click its name in the list. You can also click the icon on the far-right side of the row corresponding to the comp round and select View. You are now redirected to an in-depth view of the comp round you have selected.
At the top of the page, you can select one of three tabs:
- Comp review tab, where you can scroll to the right to view all the information about workers' eligibility and compensation.
Individual view tab, where you can select a worker to see the details of their salary and bonus.
Audit trail tab, where you can scroll down to check the latest updates and changes made in the worker grid.
Comp review tab
If the compensation round uses workflow stages, a stage progress bar is displayed at the top of the Comp review tab. By default, it is collapsed and shows a summary line indicating the current stage, for example, Stage 2 of 3 — Manager Review · 2 steps. Using the icon in the upper-right corner, expand the panel to see all stages defined in the round, each with its name, status, end date, and the workflow steps it contains. This gives you a clear view of where the round is in the overall process and what stages lie ahead.
The Comp review also includes a set of summary cards, which displays the budget consumption for each compensation element or custom column with a budget configured, included in the comp round. A custom column's budget can be defined without a currency, in which case its card shows a plain number instead of a currency amount. For each element, you can see the amount spent against the total available budget. Clicking the info icon on a card expands a detailed breakdown, showing the total budget, allocated amount, number of eligible workers, and remaining balance. The budget figures always reflect the worker population shown in the grid. When you apply filters through the Population panel, Filters, or worker search bar that we describe below, the budget totals and the detailed breakdown update to match the filtered population. These numbers always span the matching population regardless of the current page. When no filters are active, the budget reflects the full population.
You can hide the whole Budget panel by clicking the icon in its top-right corner.
On the left side of the tab, the Population panel lets you group and filter the worker grid. The panel is expanded by default and can be collapsed with the icon to maximize the grid's width. It contains two drop-down controls: View as, which determines whose population you are viewing (for example, Compensation Manager or HRBP), and Browse by, which impacts how that population is grouped.
Use the Browse by drop-down to select a grouping dimension configured for the round (for instance, Line Manager, Organization, Legal Entity, or Cost Center). Depending on what you group by, the panel displays the groups differently: some appear as a flat alphabetical list with worker counts, while others, such as an organizational hierarchy or a reporting line, appear as an expandable tree scoped to the relevant part of the organization or management structure. In tree views, you can expand or collapse each level using the arrow icon. You can also click the icon next to any level to Select all parent items, Select all child items, or Clear selection. Workers with missing or unresolved values are grouped under an Unassigned row, which is hidden when empty, as are all other empty groups.
Checking one or more groups filters the grid to the matching workers. For a flat list, only workers matching a checked value are included; for a tree, checking a higher level includes everyone below it, while checking an individual name includes just that person. These selections combine with any other active filters, narrowing the grid further each time. To reset all selections and return to the full worker population, click Clear selection at the bottom of the Population panel.
Below View as and Browse by, there is also a search field that filters the panel as you type, whichever way the population is being browsed, a flat list or a tree. Clearing the search, changing Browse by, or switching the viewed audience returns the panel to its full, unfiltered state.
Additionally, the Comp review tab allows you to do the following:
Click the Filters button to add conditions. In the Select filters drawer that opens, select a Manager from the drop-down list. To set more specific conditions, go to the Advanced section, which you can expand and collapse by clicking Expand and Collapse in its top-right corner. Use the toggle to choose between ALL or ANY and click + Add condition. Select a Criterion and Operator from the drop-down lists and enter a Value. When the criterion is a compensation amount, the Currency field also appears, letting you filter by Worker local currency or Comp round currency. To add more conditions, click + Add condition again. Click Apply to apply the filters. To discard your filters, click Clear filters. Click Cancel to exit the drawer.
Adjust the rows by clicking the Row size button.
Reload the data by clicking the Refresh data button.
Choose the Worker local currency or Comp round currency from the drop-down list.
Search your selected worker by name using the search bar.
Export the worker grid to Excel by clicking the icon and selecting Export to Excel. A dialog will appear, prompting you to choose Export current page or Export all pages.
If password protection is enabled for the round, you must also enter a Password before downloading. The password must be 4–18 characters and include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number. With password protection disabled for the round, no password is required. To download the file, click Export in the dialog.
In the worker grid, you will always see the first seven columns: Worker, Action, Workflow Step, Workflow Status, Manager, Eligibility, and Notes. Other columns are those configured by the Compensation Admin when creating the compensation round, for instance, compensation elements, custom columns, calculated columns, or calculated fields sourced from the data model. Which of these other columns you see can vary by role: the Compensation Admin can configure column visibility separately for each role during compensation round setup. As a result, the set of columns shown here can differ from what another actor, such as an HRBP or auditor, sees for the same round.
Sort the grid by clicking a column header. Click once for ascending order. For descending order, click again. Sorting works alphabetically for the Worker and Manager columns, numerically for compensation amount columns (such as merit increase or bonus amounts), chronologically for date-based calculated columns (oldest to newest, or the reverse), and by checked/unchecked state for checkbox-type calculated columns, with blank values ranked lowest.

Scroll to the right to see the compensation section of the grid. This section is divided into individual columns and column groups, representing a compensation element configured during the compensation round setup, such as Proposals. Each group contains related columns, for example Base Pay, Base Pay Override, and Fixed Allowances.
Some cells, such as those in custom input columns or those related to compensation elements, may come prefilled with a proposed value when the round is published or republished. You can keep, edit, or clear the value; to revert to the original proposed value, use the Restore value action.
Where a worker is eligible, the columns within the relevant group become editable. Entering a value in one column will automatically calculate and populate the related columns within the same group. If a compensation element is governed by guidelines, clicking the editable field displays a pop-up window with the minimum and maximum amount available for this field. If the entered value falls outside these boundaries, the pop-up also flags the value as out of range. Whether saving is still possible depends on how the rule was configured, since each boundary can independently be set to only warn or to block saving entirely when a value falls outside it. Because guideline boundaries are calculated using formulas, editing any field referenced by a guideline recalculates the applicable minimum and maximum in real time, so the values and out-of-range warnings you see always reflect the worker's latest data.
If eligibility rules in the round reference custom columns, you can update a worker's eligibility directly in the grid by changing the value in the relevant column – for example, setting a Promotion dropdown to Yes. The corresponding compensation element becomes editable for that worker in real time. Any calculated column displaying the eligibility status also updates automatically to reflect the change.
A custom column can also carry its own eligibility, budget, guidelines, or required-notes rule, configured directly on that column instead of on a compensation element. When it does, the column behaves the same way a compensation element with that rule would. For a worker who is ineligible for the column, that cell is read-only, its budget, if any, appears among the summary cards described above, values outside its guidelines show the same warning or blocking behavior, and a required note is prompted under the same conditions, always or only when the value falls outside guidelines.
If your administrator has removed an option from a custom drop-down column after the round was republished, the affected cells remain visible rather than appearing empty. A warning icon is displayed inside the cell alongside the stored value in strike-through styling. Hovering over the cell shows a tooltip with the relevant explanation. When you open the drop-down on an impacted cell, the invalid value appears at the top as a disabled, non-selectable entry, with all currently valid options listed below. To resolve the cell, select a valid option from the list or clear the value. Once resolved, the invalid value is permanently locked out of that specific cell, and it cannot be reselected. Lock-out applies per cell and does not affect other workers.
Some custom drop-down columns are configured to narrow their options based on other columns already filled in for that worker, for example, limiting available cities to the ones belonging to the country already selected. If you change a column that a drop-down depends on in this way, the drop-down's option list updates automatically, and a previously selected value that no longer matches the new combination is cleared.
Some calculated columns appear as read-only checkbox cells: checked when the formula evaluates to true, unchecked when false, and blank when the result is missing or cannot be evaluated.
If a custom or calculated column has been configured with the Percentage option, its values display with a % sign. Enter your percentage directly (for example, enter 10 to mean 10%); the application converts and stores the underlying value as a decimal automatically.
Sometimes a cell driven by a calculation cannot produce a result – for instance, if the data it needs is missing or does not work with the formula. When that happens, the cell shows a clear error. Read-only cells display Unable to calculate in red; editable cells show a red #ERROR! and stay editable, so you can type in a value to fix it. Hover over either one to see a tooltip explaining what went wrong. If another cell depends on one that has an error, it also shows an error. Totals and other summary numbers skip the affected rows instead of counting them as zero.
You will also notice that some columns contain icons next to their names. Depending on the compensation round setup, the icons may relate to Conditional formatting, a Calculated column formula, Proposal management, or Planner calculations. Hovering over these icons displays relevant tooltips, and clicking the icons opens drawers on the right side of the screen, presenting the outcome of the comp round configuration in read mode, for example rules or formulas applied.
Click the worker's name to see details of their Comp history, Salary, Bonus, and Notes in a drawer that will slide from the right. From there, you can also access the Individual view tab by clicking the Go to individual view button at the bottom of the drawer.

Audit trail tab
The Audit trail tab displays all historical changes made to the table. It shows who made each change and when it was made. The table also indicates where the change occurred and what input was provided, if any. This gives you more control over your comp round, helping you to track updates and spot any mistakes or issues more effectively.
From the View as drop-down list above the table, select the role whose worker population's audit trail entries you want to review (for example, HRBP). You can also use the search bar to find an audit trail record that interests you the most. Simply enter a keyword, and the search will begin automatically.
